# Divine Dialogues: My Journey Through Divination, Creativity, and Connection

## Introduction: The Language of Spirit

There are countless ways to communicate with the divine. Some find it through prayer in traditional religious settings. Others discover it in the silent communion of meditation. For me, the conversation with God and Spirit has unfolded through creative expression and the ancient arts of divination.

This is my story of finding voice and meaning through these practices—how tarot cards became letters in a spiritual alphabet, how the spontaneous flow of automatic writing opened channels to wisdom beyond my conscious mind, and how various divination techniques created bridges between my everyday awareness and the realms of soul and spirit.

I share these experiences not to convince anyone of a particular belief system, but to offer my perspective on how these practices can create meaningful dialogue with the deeper dimensions of existence. Perhaps in my story, you might find echoes of your own spiritual curiosity or validation for experiences that mainstream society doesn't always have language for.

## The Creative Portal: When Paint Becomes Prophecy

My journey to spiritual connection through creativity began when I discovered abstract painting. There was a distinct moment when I realized my art was more than just art—it was a channel, a conversation with something beyond myself.

Working with acrylic paints, I found myself drawn to creating abstract pieces that formed what resembled ink blot images. As the paint pooled and spread across the canvas, forming unexpected patterns and shapes, I began to notice figures emerging from the chaos—faces, symbols, and forms that I hadn't consciously intended to create.

These paintings became a form of visual divination. Like the ancient practice of scrying or the psychological Rorschach test, my abstract works revealed messages and meanings that seemed to come from somewhere beyond my conscious mind. I could interpret these spontaneous images, finding guidance and insight in the figures that appeared.

What began as creative expression transformed into a spiritual practice. The process of allowing the paint to flow, to take its own course while maintaining just enough guidance, became a metaphor for my spiritual journey—a balance between intention and surrender, between creating and receiving.

In these moments of creative flow, the boundary between artist and medium, between self and spirit, becomes permeable. The paint becomes a conduit for messages that feel both deeply personal and somehow external to my everyday consciousness.

## Psychography: When the Hand Knows What the Mind Does Not

My experience with psychography—or automatic writing—has revealed one of the most intimate dialogues possible: the conversation with my own shadow self. Unlike what many might imagine, this doesn't involve hearing audible voices or experiencing dramatic possession. Instead, it's a subtle yet profound phenomenon that emerges through the physical act of writing itself.

When I engage in psychography, I enter a receptive state and allow my hand to move across the page without conscious direction. What emerges isn't random—it has coherence, personality, and often wisdom that feels distinct from my normal thought patterns. It's as though a part of myself that remains hidden during everyday consciousness finds expression through this practice.

I've come to understand this voice as my shadow—those aspects of myself that typically remain below the threshold of awareness. Not necessarily dark or negative as the term sometimes implies, but simply the parts of my psyche that aren't integrated into my conscious identity. Through psychography, these aspects can speak, share their perspective, and offer insights that my conscious mind might miss or avoid.

The experience isn't about "hearing" in the traditional sense—it's about allowing. The knowing comes through the writing itself, appearing on the page sometimes to my own surprise. Messages form that I didn't consciously compose, yet they emerge from my hand, creating a bridge between different levels of my being and, perhaps, to spiritual dimensions beyond what I consider "me."

This practice has become not just a form of divination but a path to wholeness—a way of bringing the hidden into light, of acknowledging the fullness of my being beyond the limitations of everyday identity.

## The Sacred Alphabet: My Journey with Divination

### Tarot: Visual Conversations with the Unconscious

I'm still in the beginning stages of my journey with tarot, but it has already opened meaningful pathways for spiritual insight. My first deck uniquely combines astrology with tarot symbolism, creating a rich tapestry of meaning that feels particularly suited to exploring the relationship between self, soul, and spirit.

Though I'm early in my practice, I've found tarot to be especially powerful for understanding the multifaceted aspects of my inner life. The cards serve as mirrors reflecting different dimensions of consciousness, helping me distinguish between my everyday self and the deeper aspects of my spiritual nature.

As I continue to develop my relationship with the cards, I notice how their imagery speaks to both my conscious and unconscious mind, creating a bridge between what I already know and what remains hidden within me.

### Bibliomancy: Divine Messages Through Literature

My approach to bibliomancy is intuitive and deeply personal. When seeking guidance, I allow myself to be drawn to books that "feel right" in the moment—trusting that initial impulse as part of the divination process itself. Sometimes it's a spiritual text, other times it might be poetry, fiction, or even non-fiction that calls to me.

Once I've selected a book, I hold it for a moment, centering myself and focusing on my question or the guidance I'm seeking. Then I simply open to a random page and allow my eyes to be guided to the passage that contains the message I need to hear.

What continues to astonish me about this practice is how frequently the randomly selected text speaks with uncanny relevance to my situation. It's as though the book becomes an oracle, offering wisdom perfectly calibrated to my current circumstances or questions. Through bibliomancy, ordinary texts become sacred vessels of meaning, connecting me to guidance that feels both universal and intensely personal.

### Runes: Ancient Symbols Speaking to Modern Life

With runes, my practice centers on focused intention. Before drawing a rune, I enter a contemplative state, concentrating deeply on what I need to know in that moment. This preparation feels essential to creating the conditions for meaningful divination.

After pulling a rune, I consult my personal reference book where I've recorded the traditional meanings of each symbol. This book has become sacred in its own right—a repository of both ancient wisdom and my evolving understanding of these potent symbols.

The interpretation process becomes a dialogue between the traditional meanings I've recorded and my intuitive sense of how those meanings apply to my specific situation. Over time, my relationship with each rune has deepened, and I've come to appreciate how these ancient symbols continue to speak with remarkable clarity to modern circumstances.

The runes offer a different kind of wisdom than tarot or bibliomancy—more distilled and elemental, connecting me to ancient currents of knowing that feel both primal and timeless.
